I guess that this is ex post facto but this is the flier for the show we had on Friday. We were really happy with the turnout; it’s encouraging that we can get a decent turnout with two days notice.

Biography

Ship Wrecks is an acoustic, indie-folk duo based in Elizabethtown, PA: Paul plays guitar pretty well and sings; Michelle plunks around on guitar and sings better. The band has been compared to Bright Eyes, Kind of Like Spitting, Brand New (circa 2003), The Swell Season, Kevin Devine, Damien Rice, Elliot Smith, and Cursive.

Paul and Michelle have just returned from a ten-day tour of New England with their good friends Trunks & Tales, where they sold out of their limited-edition, handmade EP, entitled “The Good Old Days”. The EP was a preview of their upcoming split CD with their friend, Reverend Homeless. The CD will be titled, “Songs from Better Days”, and they are recording it now.

The name “Ship Wrecks” requires a bit of explanation. Michelle came up with the name “Shipwreck,” which also happens to be a Boston hardcore band, and Paul decided that it was more clever to make it a complete sentence, subject and verb. Ship wrecks. Get it?

From living rooms to bars to wedding receptions, Ship Wrecks has played a diverse selection of shows and they will make a lasting impression wherever they play next.

This indie-folk duo from Elizabethtown, PA is the kind of people that would have fit in real nice when there were frequent local house shows here in Long Island.

Michelle’s Account of Tour So Far: It’s been a crazy week.

bluecarolina:

It is day 7 of tour.  It’s been such a great tour so far, we are having a great time.  Let’s see what I can recall…

12/13 - Trenton, NJ, The Mill Hill Basement- First show of tour.  It went pretty well, it was in this basement of a bar.  I met a really cool girl named Vicky who is going to come to our show in Bethlehem, Pa.  For our first show, it went pretty well.

12/14 - Naugatuck, CT, Tetonka Fortress-  This is the most wonderful house in CT.  We were told that this would be the best place ever, and let me just say, it really was.  Everyone at the Tetonka Fortress was awesome, and they really liked us, and they let us stay at their place that night.  We stayed up partying til 3am, and then finally got some sleep.  I love everyone there, and I will always remember that night.  It’s in my book as the best show we have ever played.

12/15 - New Bedford, MA, The Green Bean- This was an alright show, most of the people at the coffee house were just there to see the other bands though.   WE got burritos and quesadillas beforehand, they were amazing.  Definitely not as great as CT the night before, but we are still so grateful for having a show booked.

12/16 - Brighton, MA- The Handsome Mansion- This is right near Boston, it’s my favorite place ever.  I met the coolest kids, and everyone had the best accents!  The show was in a basement, which we threw bottles at the wall in.  So fun.  I stayed with Pete, my favorite person that I have met on tour.  We stayed up til 7am watching movies and music videos and walking around in the cold to get juice only to find the stores were all closed.  I miss Pete a lot.  I think that maybe I want to move to Boston, but I should probably go there a few more times before I decide.  This is about the time where it started getting extremely cold outside.

12/17 - Keene, NH, The Starving Artist- Alex from Young Mountain set up this show for us.  It was a really cool place, and Alaina who owned it was so damn nice to us.  The last band that played, Elm City Orchestra, was amazing musically, but they were really drunk, so they talked through our set, which was a little annoying, and then they played for like 2 or 3 times the amount of time the rest of the bands had, but whatever.  We made a lot of money from that show because everyone gave generous donations, and Elm City Orchestra invited us to a party afterwards.  We went there for a little, then at pizza with Young Mountain, and slept on the floor of The Starving Artist, which is kind of like a coffee house.  Keene is a really neat town, by the way, and there is a lot to do there.  It was ridiculously cold now.

12/18 - Vermont, The Radio Bean- This was a bar show at 11:15pm.  The guys from Ghosting came to the show, which was awesome.  They also let us stay at their place, which was really nice of them considering they met us like an hour before that.  It was around the time of the show when I started realizing that I constantly had to pee, and then later I starting pissing blood.  Hello, kidney infection.  Cold is unbearable by now.

12/19 - Plattsburgh, NY, The Coffee Camp- We’ll see how tonight goes, we’re hanging out at The Coffee Camp right now.  My mom is the best person in the world, she called in a perscription for me this morning, so my kidneys will be just fine.  I really miss Boston still, and CT.  We will see some awesome people from CT at our show tomorrow, so I’m really looking forward to that.

I love being on tour, it really has been a damn crazy week.  I miss my family and friends though, and I miss my home.  Still a few more days left, I’ll be back soon enough.

p.s.- I’m sorry if this is really boring.
