Regional Bands Rally to Beat Cancer

This is an article that Flipside put out about our show May 9:

Paul Rehkugler lost his grandmother to cancer on Christmas Eve.
He wrote a song to help him deal with the loss.
Rehkugler, 21, who is a member of the Elizabethtown duo Ship Wrecks, said he is sometimes more inspired when he’s sad.
His band mate Michelle Cina, 20, said that has been how the band relates to listeners.
“We want to get people to feel something,” she said. “It’s real life.”

update

We just got done playing some rad shows at Folklore Coffee & Co in Elizabethtown (on Friday), and Boondocks in York Haven (on Saturday). Thanks to all of the people at those places for taking good care of us, and thanks for everyone that came to see us.

We are so lucky to have such talented friends. Our bros in Trunks & Tales are in Indiana right now, recording a new 7”. We got to hear a new song on Saturday, and this release is going to be big. Pre-order will be available soon on their bandcamp site - http://trunksandtales.bandcamp.com/.

And our friend Matt (aka the Spinning Game) is doing some awesome stuff too. Listen to his new Ship Wrecks-inspired song on his myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/thespinninggame.

Also, we’re working on some recordings and some new songs. Paul just wrote a new song; you can check it out on his blog. Michelle also wrote a new song. It should be finished soon.

Come to a show and we’ll play them for you!

Fun times at the Maribelle / Kviza show

We played this show last night with Maribelle (http://www.myspace.com/ohmaribelle) and Kviza (http://www.myspace.com/kviza) at Conewago Coffee. It was rad, and here’s why:

Kviza played a good set. We saw them at Melody’s house a while back and they’ve definitely gotten better. It’s probably the craziest thing that Conewago will ever host. We just got confirmed on a show with them in Lancaster in May - Folk the Park 3. You should come to it.

Maribelle played a good set too. They sound like a mopey, stripped-down version of the Arcade Fire. We got their LP and we’re super psyched to give it a listen. Also, we got food with them and they are super cool and awesome people. We’re hoping to go play a show with them in Chicago sometime in the summer.

Our friend Matt, who goes by The Spinning Game played us some songs that we inspired him to write. They rule. Keep your eye out for some Spinning Game releases; they’re going to be awesome. And also he played us some of our songs that he covers. It still feels really foreign, but it definitely makes us feel awesome.

Also, we have some super exciting stuff coming up. Keep your ear to the ground. More details soon.
